Earthbound Arts is a creation of husband and wife team Gordon Jones and Lucy Duncan.
After a few years on the craft show circuit, they found a location in the downtown Arts District of Winston-Salem, N.C., and opened the gallery in September of 2000. Earthbound Arts, Gifts From Nature, is a varied collection of works in several different mediums; pottery, stained glass, copper & sterling, concrete, handmade paper, etc.
What makes Earthbound Arts unique is the fact that everything in the shop/gallery is handcrafted by the couple. Lucy explains, "we love to learn and explore new techniques and mediums, enabling us to add new merchandise on a regular basis. We're set up (with our workshop) so that anything I think of that I'd like to create, I just go and create it. I never run out of ideas!"
Gordon creates all the wheel thrown pottery, including raku-fired wares. He also creates copper and stoneware fountains. He runs the gallery during the week, and is the current president of the Downtown Arts District Association. Lucy creates all of the hand built claywork, stained glass, copperwork, sterling & copper jewelry, handprinted cards & t-shirts, natural herbal soaps & bath & body products, masks & garden art, herbal tea blends, beeswax candles, painted garden signs and much more. She helps Gordon in the gallery on weekends & during busy holidays.
"Yes, it sounds crazy, and we do have to be somewhat disciplined, but we love what we do and most of the time its a dream job. We invite you to visit our gallery whenever you're in Winston-Salem. You'll be amazed at the quality and variety of our work, and reasonable prices we are able to offer you."
